The University of North Carolina at Wilmington has a list of the  15 ways employees
find new hires. Some of the ways are obvious but others, like using student organizations and clubs, are not.
I like the spirit of  Bob Baker's Newsthinking."If newspapers are going to die, as most "smart" people 
seem to think, let's go down swinging. Let's go down like the Texans at the Alamo. Let's publish the
 best, most interesting, most audacious stories we can, on our own terms. Let's not be businessmen. Let's be artists."

There's a convenient way to follow the layoffs in journalism and writing jobs. Use this  updated listing from
I Want Media. The latest cuts come from  the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
130 jobs will be cut, saving the paper $7 million. The majority of cuts are through early-retirement packages.
You might check out the new Conde Naste publication  slated to launch next year. They
plan on hiring 100 new staff members.
