PROOFREADER

Students often confuse the copy editor with the proofreader. Sometimes these are combined but most of the time publications try to seperate out the functions. The proofreader checks the copy very carefully to see if there are any spelling, grammatical, or other errors in the text.

There are a variety of proofreader marks that need to be learned. It takes patience and meticulous, precise work to ensure that a piece of copy is error free.
